Vaduz – Chur

Commentary David Loosli

Today the peloton leaves Liechtenstein and heads towards Chur with a loop via Altstetten SG and Gais AR. There are several climbs to be tackled on this 3rd stage. Initially up to Gais, where the cyclists have to cover 6 kilometres and 500 metres of altitude gain. Secondly, the route leads over the St. Luzisteig into the Grisons. The last kilometres are also uphill. This will make it very difficult for sprinters on the day. It is quite possible that breakaways will be able to steal away on these climbs.

Stage Highlights

Gais is nestled in the rolling hills of the beautiful Appenzellerland.

Chur is the oldest town in Switzerland and an ideal starting point for exploring Grisons.

St. Luzisteig

The tough climb over the St. Luzisteig will be well-known to avid cyclists.

Historical old town

The historical old town of Chur is completely car-free and offers a wide range of cultural activities.
