The overall winner of the first Tour de Suisse Women is Elizabeth Deignan. The Briton outpaced Elise Chabbey by a single second thanks to time credits at two intermediate sprints. The Swiss champion was handicapped by a crash. Marta Bastianelli won the second stage and took third place in the final overall classification.

On Sunday, the women’s field of cyclists will line up at the start in Frauenfeld. In the town of 25,000 inhabitants, the cyclists are tested over 10 laps. The heart of the town of Frauenfeld lay from around 1230 onwards on a rectangle of land 250m × 110m known as “unserer lieben Frauen Feld” (Our Lady’s Field), a field dedicated to the Mother of God; a plateau that slopes steeply down to the Thur in the west and to the south in a rocky drop towards Murg.

The Frauenfeld Horse Centre is one of three horse centres in Switzerland. In the catchment area of the Eastern Switzerland Cavalry Association, the Frauenfeld Horse Centre offers ideal conditions for equestrian sport in all its forms.

In the middle of the city of Frauenfeld lies the green oasis of the Murg-Auen-Park. Only a few steps away from the train station, one can be immersed in a diverse natural landscape. In the award-winning park, the Murg meanders through the floodplain forest. The park invites children to play and its curved bridges guarantee wonderful walks. The park has something to offer active lovers of nature as well as those looking to relax and unwind.

Eisenwerk

The Eisenwerk, created in 1986 from an old screw factory, is now the cultural epicentre of Frauenfeld. Numerous concerts, theatre events and exhibitions are held within its walls. In an inspiring atmosphere that exudes industrial grandeur coupled with workshop charm, more than one hundred events take place each year. At the heart of the Eisenwerk, the Eisenbeiz offers a lively bar atmosphere and the beer garden provides further opportunities to unwind, chat or simply enjoy the surroundings.
